A Message From Mrs. Sue

sue johnston principal of al salam schoolDear Parents, Staff and Members of Al Salam Family,

My time at Al Salam School has been a wonderful journey. I have spent 41 amazing years in education and the last 30 years as Headmistress at Al Salam in a constantly changing educational climate. I truly enjoyed working and living in a community that supports education and our young people.

The school has been and will always play a significant part of my life. I feel blessed to have been a colleague to fantastic, professional and committed team of staff, and I feel humbled by the fact that parents entrusted their most precious children in our care. I am forever grateful for the positive relationships built with children and families over the years.

It has been a joy to see so many children grow into successful adults. My biggest pleasure is following the students’ personal progress, development and growth from being a small toddler to fine young adults ready to face the challenges of the outside world. There has certainly never been a dull moment!

It has been a very difficult decision to make but I feel that the time is right to hand over the reins to a new Principal.

On behalf of the Board of Governors and Senior Leadership Team, it is my pleasure to announce the selection of Mr. Amin Ali to be our new Principal at Al Salam School.

Mr. Amin graduated from the University of Sheffield, with a Bachelor’s degree with honours (BEng Hons.). He completed his Post-Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) at the University of Cambridge. After other significant leadership roles in England, he obtained the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).

Mr. Amin has been involved in the school governance and decision making since the beginning of the school year 2016-2017 as Chair of the Board of Al Salam. He is an energetic, committed and passionate young man with over 12 years of leadership experience in England and having great skills to lead Al Salam School as we continue the exciting journey to an excellent education befitting our school.

Al Salam has accomplished wonderful things over the years and I still have a vision for Al Salam along with many ideas.

I would like to thank and appreciate all the wonderful children who engage me every day with their amazing knowledge, growth, personalities, sense of humour, and achievements, and to the parents who have always been so supportive of Al Salam School.

A very special thanks to the outstanding team of Staff that I have had the pleasure to work with over the years- what a journey!

I am looking forward to my new role as CEO at school and would like to reassure everyone that I will continue to be involved and be in the school and in the same office.

I am looking forward to a positive AY 2017-2018 at Al Salam. I am confident in Mr. Amin’s experience as a leader and know that as community, we will welcome and give him our support.

Sincerely,

Sue Johnston, CEO
